Who we are

Sirens Dive Masks is operated by Julie Michell Chapman, trading as Sirens Dive Masks, in Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia. This policy explains how we handle personal information through our shop, enquiries and creator collaborations.

For privacy questions or requests, email sirensdive@gmail.com.

Information we collect

  • Orders and delivery: your name, email, billing and delivery addresses, any phone number you provide, products ordered, payment status and transaction references.
  • Customer care: messages, order details and information you provide to help with a question, return or delivery investigation.
  • Creator enquiries: your contact details, Instagram handle, portfolio links and the shoot ideas, locations and timing you choose to share.
  • Website use: device and browser information, IP address, pages visited, referring links, interactions and cookie preferences, collected through our website and its service providers.
  • Marketing choices: whether you choose to receive news and updates, and any later unsubscribe request.

We collect information when you order, complete a form, contact us or use the website. Payment and delivery providers may also supply transaction or tracking updates. Please only provide information we need for your enquiry; do not send card details, passwords or identity documents by email or through a website form.

How we use it

We use personal information to process payments, fulfil and track orders, send service updates, answer enquiries, resolve problems, assess collaboration proposals, protect against fraud, maintain business records and meet applicable legal obligations. Website usage information helps us understand and improve our shop.

Order and service messages are separate from marketing. We send promotional emails when you choose to receive them; you can unsubscribe using the email link or contact us. Submitting a creator enquiry does not sign you up for marketing or give us permission to reuse your creative work. Any collaboration and content-use permissions are agreed separately.

We do not sell customer contact lists.

Services that help run Sirens

We share information where needed for the purpose of the service:

  • Squarespace hosts our website and provides our shop, checkout, forms, customer contacts, website analytics and notifications.
  • Stripe and PayPal process payments, depending on the method you choose. Payment details are handled through the payment service; we receive order and transaction information needed to manage your purchase.
  • Australia Post / MyPost Business and delivery partners receive parcel and recipient details needed for delivery and tracking. International deliveries may also require information to be shared with postal partners and customs authorities.
  • Google provides Gmail for correspondence, Google Analytics for website measurement and reCAPTCHA for form spam protection.
  • Instagram / Meta handles information when you interact with our Instagram account. Information you share there is also subject to that platform’s privacy settings and policy.

We may also disclose relevant information to professional advisers or authorities where needed to manage a dispute, protect lawful rights or meet a legal obligation.

Cookies and website analytics

Essential cookies and similar technologies support functions such as the shopping cart, checkout and security. Optional analytics help us understand how people find and use the website. You can accept or decline optional cookies, or change your choices using the Cookie Preferences control on our website. Browser settings provide additional cookie controls.

Declining optional cookies does not stop essential service and security processing. Google’s consent mode may also send limited measurement signals without analytics cookies. We do not treat a cookie choice as permission to send you marketing emails.

Google reCAPTCHA helps protect our forms from spam and may process browser, device and interaction information for that purpose under Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Overseas processing

Some service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they operate. For example, Stripe identifies processing in the United States and India. International delivery information may be handled in the destination country and by relevant transit or customs partners.

Provider locations can change; their privacy information linked above explains their international processing. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from Australian laws.

Keeping information secure and only as long as needed

We use reasonable safeguards and limit access to people who need information for their work. No online service or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for orders, customer support, business records, legal obligations or disputes. When it is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it, subject to required record retention and the way our providers manage backups. Unsubscribing from marketing does not remove records we still need for these purposes.

Your choices, requests and complaints

Email sirensdive@gmail.com to ask for access to or correction of your information, request deletion, change marketing preferences, or raise a privacy concern. Tell us enough to identify the information or issue. We may need to verify your identity using proportionate information before acting.

We aim to respond to privacy requests and complaints within 30 days. If we need more time, we will explain why. Some information may need to be retained, and requests are handled subject to applicable law. We will explain any limits that affect your request.

If we cannot resolve your concern, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where it has jurisdiction, or the relevant privacy regulator in your country. Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under applicable law.

Updates to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or practices change. The current version and its update date will be available on this page.
